Dispatch Coordinator
(Volunteer Position)

We are currently seeking a reliable Dispatch Coordinator who will serve as the organizer and communicator for Here2Help’s deliveries of food to families who request them. 
 

Deliveries occur on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; therefore, three times per week -- on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays -- you will need to:
 

  • access food delivery requests made in both English and Spanish, through our online forms;

  • check on available food inventory at our multiple donation sites;

  • schedule volunteer drivers;

  • give delivery-prep assignments and instructions to the various donation sites; and

  • give pickup instructions and map routes for the drivers. 


The information you share must be clear and easily understood to ensure that  (a) volunteer drivers are clear about what and where to pick up and deliver; and that (b) donation site hosts know how many bags, with what contents, should be prepared for each volunteer driver. 

 

The ability to multi-task is essential, and you must be able to take appropriate action with little supervision.

 

SSL hours may be awarded.

 

Spanish-language skills are ideal.

 

Dispatcher Responsibilities

  • Process delivery requests made on both our Spanish- and English-language forms.

  • Ensure that requests are fulfilled the next delivery day. 

  • Address any problems and provide solutions, communicating with  necessary parties as needed.

  • Provide volunteer drivers with vital information about their deliveries, including routes and traffic obstacles.

  • Provide donation sites with information about the volunteer drivers coming to their site, and instructions on how many bags to prepare, including customization instructions (based on family size, dietary restrictions, etc.)

     

Dispatcher Requirements and Qualifications

  • Passionate about helping address local food insecurity

  • Experience with Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets

  • Outstanding organizational skills and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Access to a desktop computer, and strong and reliable Internet access

  • Easily accessible by phone, text, and email

  • Able to work under pressure and time constraints
